WHO WE ARE

OpenShare Recovery supports individuals and their families in recovery from various addictions including but not limited to alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling and food disorders, that need extra support.

We facilitate two-hour weekly group meetings in a supportive and safe group environment at McAuly Place, Naas Co. Kildare on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm – 9:30pm.

Our team of facilitators; Philip Lawless and Derek Magee, have a combined 46 years of experience specialising in the field of addiction in the private, community and the voluntary sector.

A JOURNEY HOME

This is an intimate journey of self-awareness. It means reconnecting with oneself through your feelings and emotions and reconnecting with families and communities.

PARALLEL JOURNEY

Addiction is a family disease and affects every relationship. Abstaining brings a huge change to a relationship; and relationships have to adjust, therefore families and partners are an integral part of each individual addict/alcoholics’ journey to recovery.

Families are supported in communicating the impact of addiction by exploring and connecting with the ways addiction has affected them.

The impact of addiction on families and significant others means that they often find themselves isolated and in a destructive place. Recovering together means that they are not alone on this journey because they are able to identify with one another through the group process.

WHAT IS THE HOPE FOR OUR CLIENTS

Our objective is to support individuals and their families in the process of positive change and truth in recovery, so as they can rebuild connection to family and community and rebuild their lives free from the burden of addiction.

POWER OF THE GROUP

Harnessing the power of the group to recover together.

We believe in the power of openness and honesty to transform the lives of addicts/alcoholic’s and their families. Our approach to recovery is group based which centres around open sharing and positive engagement which enables the individual and the group to recover as a whole.
